Karachi fines 15,794 profiteers over Rs111.36m in one year
KARACHI: The Karachi administration has intensified its anti-profiteering campaign on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, taking action against 535 profiteers during inspections carried out between July 20 and 26.
The Commissioner’s Office said that from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, authorities inspected over 91,000 shops, fined 15,794 profiteers more than PKR 111.36 million and continued strict enforcement to curb overcharging across Karachi.
According to the Commissioner’s Office, Assistant Commissioners inspected 3,446 shops across the city to ensure compliance with officially notified prices. The administration imposed fines totaling PKR 3.44 million, sealed 41 shops, arrested two profiteers and issued warnings to 785 shopkeepers.
During the latest drive, Central District acted against 125 profiteers and sealed 4 shops, while East District fined 87 and sealed 16 shops. Keamari District sealed 12 shops and arrested two profiteers, whereas South District sealed 7 shops.
