PSX ends in red amid broad selling

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed in the red on Wednesday as selling pressure pulled the benchmark KSE-100 Index down 1,580.90 points, or 0.89%.

The index settled at 176,042.98 points versus 177,623.88 points in the previous session.

Trading activity also slowed. Ready market volume dropped to 574.076 million shares from 958.014 million on Tuesday, while value traded fell to Rs25.369 billion from Rs41.566 billion. Market capitalization slipped to Rs19.778 trillion from Rs19.951 trillion.

Breadth was weak, with 330 of 563 traded companies posting losses, 129 recording gains and 104 unchanged.
