Pakistan’s YouTube creators win global audiences with record reach
KARACHI: Pakistan has emerged as one of the world’s most dynamic YouTube ecosystems, with creators turning local stories into global hits and reshaping the country’s digital economy.
New data shows more than 140,000 Pakistani channels have crossed 10,000 subscribers, over 19,000 have passed 100,000, and more than 1,200 have hit one million. In the past year alone, Pakistani channels uploaded 20 million hours of content. Crucially, 60% of watch time for content produced in Pakistan comes from abroad, underscoring the international appeal of homegrown storytelling.
“Pakistan’s creators are proving that world-class storytelling knows no borders,” said Farhan Qureshi, Cluster Director for Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand at Google. “Through YouTube, they are sharing our culture and creativity with the world, while building sustainable businesses and driving employment.”
Creators are succeeding across formats. Shahveer Jaffry’s 30-minute reality series with friends draws close to 4 million subscribers. WildLens by Abrar, an aerospace engineer turned traveler with 2.2 million subscribers, documents journeys from Pakistan to the Americas in Urdu and Punjabi. Food Fusion became the first Pakistani food channel to cross one billion views, while RHS blends food tours with personality-driven formats.
Educational voices like Minoqtopus and entertainment reviewers such as Something Haute are also growing fast, attracting loyal diaspora audiences. Whereas, with new channels launching daily, Pakistan’s creators are proving quality content finds its audience anywhere.
