SIFC-led US business delegation visits KPT, explores trade and IT investment



KARACHI: A high-level US business delegation led by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) visited the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Head Office on Wednesday to discuss trade, modernization and investment opportunities.

Chairman KPT Rear Admiral (R) Shahid Ahmed briefed the delegation on the port’s record performance, ongoing modernization initiatives and potential areas for foreign investment. CEO Pakistan National Shipping Corporation Syed Jerar Haider Kazmi and Director General Marine Fisheries Department Dr. Mansoor Ali Wassan were also present.

The delegation expressed strong interest in KPT’s 140-acre Maritime Business District, smart port infrastructure and blue economy projects. They proposed developing the district as an IT hub to attract tech firms and services linked to port operations.

Discussions also covered enhancing Pakistan’s mango exports to the US through a dedicated processing facility at the port. The visitors further reviewed investment prospects in PNSC and the fisheries sector.
