Goods transporters warn of another countrywide strike

Karachi: Goods transporters have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government regarding the hike in diesel prices.

Malik Shehzad Awan, President of Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, said on Tuesday that the recent increase in diesel prices is entirely unacceptable, and demanded that the government to withdraw the decision immediately.

He noted that running a business has become extremely difficult, as he called for the abolition of the one-day fuel pricing and urged to extend it to 30 days at least, not only for the diesel prices, but also for the toll taxes.

Besides, Malik Sher Khan, President of the Karachi Goods Carriers Association warned that a meeting of goods transporters is scheduled for Wednesday, after which a future course of action will be announced within 48 hours.
