FBATI urges shift to value-added exports, AI & innovation

KARACHI: Pakistan must move beyond traditional exports and focus on global competitiveness, technology and value-added products to secure long-term success in international markets, said Sheikh Tehseen, President of the Federal B. Area Association of Trade and Industry.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, he stated that sustained competitiveness is the real guarantee of success. Increasing exports requires not just finding new markets but meeting global standards. He stressed that investment in technology, innovation and the digital economy is essential to maintain Pakistan’s foothold in world trade.

Sheikh Tehseen noted that the future of trade will be driven by artificial intelligence and sustainability. Pakistan has strong potential with its young workforce and industrial base, but global buyers now prioritize quality, timely delivery and sustainability along with price.

He urged the government to make export competitiveness the centerpiece of Pakistan’s future trade policy.
